After charging a 32-year-old man earlier today, police are looking for more suspects in the alleged 2021 shooting death of underworld figure Bilal Hamze.
Today, police went to a prison in Silver water where they apprehended and accused 32-year-old Samuel Rokomaqisa of murder.
Rokomaqisa was denied bail and is scheduled to appear in court today at Downing Center Local Court.
On June 17, 2021, at around 10.25 p.m., Hamze, the cousin of infamous gang leader Bassam Hamzy, was allegedly shot and killed in Sydney's central business district as he was leaving a restaurant on Bridge Street near Pitt Street.
Hamze was given medical attention on the spot before being transported to St. Vincent's Hospital, where he eventually passed away.
A short while later, Northwood's Fleming Street was the scene of an Audi that had caught fire. The automobile was subjected to forensic testing.
Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty stated, "Police will allege in the facts that this 32-year-old male was in the black Audi and that he was intimately involved in the murder of Bilal Hamze."
Police continue to look into whether Rokomaqisa was a "gun for hire," Doherty said.
He added that according to authorities, the incident may have involved a number of additional individuals.
